.fogsettings file unable to edit.

This is most likely a dumb question, but I am unable to find the answer. I am trying to change the IP address of our fog server. I have the doc. The fog project guide in front of me. However, I am unable to edit the .fogsettings file to set the IP address. When I attempt to open it with a text editor, it tells me my permissions aren’t sufficient, even though I am logged in as the only Admin on the machine. Is there a special way I need to do this?
