Re: Target partition is smaller than source##### Server

      • FOG Version: 1.4.2
      • OS: Ubuntu 16.04
      Client
      • Service Version:
      • OS: Windows 7 64
      Description

Re: Target partition is smaller than source
New install of Ubuntu 16.04 and Fog 1.4.2. Clean install Windows 7 64 bit on Dell Optiplex 760. Image created successfully. Get “Target partition smaller” error message when deploying to same make, model, size of computer. Tried all suggestions I could find on Internet. d1.fixed_size_partitions file has :1:2. Tried single disk resizable; single multipartition not resizable. Suggestions?

What’s the size of hard drive vs. the size of the hard drive that you captured the image from?

The information is pretty straight forward.

Essentially you’re trying to put the image on a disk that is smaller than the original source of the image was.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@bsalogga I will nearly guarantee you they are not the same size if you’re seeing this message.

We’d need to see the information from a system that works and a system that is having this problem.

@Tom-Elliott Been working on this for a week and now seems to be working. Not sure what changed. It is what happens when you ask tech support authorities. The machines get scared. Thank you and hope it keeps working.

@bsalogga Was there an SD card or other media in the PC? I had to re-image a device a few weeks ago and it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the end user had left an SD card in the laptop. FOG tried to deploy the image to the SD card.

@Avaryan Thanks Avaryan. There was nothing in the target computer. Not sure what happened.
