I have setup and successfully sysprep win8.1 image and deployed to our old laptops and desktops Dell Latitude E6500 and Opti 960. I figured I would use this image to roll out new Lenovo T440s but it hangs on the PXE boot to fog. I am thinking I need a new kernel for the client to use and not sure how to make one I found this in the forum’s at http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/lenovo-thinkpad-x240.9887/page-2 and I think it may work!

I finished making my custom kernel and it is working.

I have tested my kernel with both the T440p and the T440s, both working. It is based off of Linux kernel version 3.12.6.

I am hoping this kernel will work on my setup to roll out these new laptops but I am a little unsure on how to do this. I am thinking I will Rename the existing bzImage to old and keep it safe. Rename or move the Kernel I downloaded to bzImage and copy it to /tftpboot/fog/kernel/ on my fog server reboot and try to network boot the Lenovo T440s

This is my question am I thinking right on this? Hopefully I am not way off base I really want this to work Im a one man show and this would save me a lot of work. Should one of the kernels work that you can get in the fog interface? I’m under the gun the business manager is wanting to order these in a week but if I’m not ready I’m not ready. Fog project is great I appreciate the work everyone does.
Thanks in advance for any help

You can try downloading his kernel. Or mine.

Try the kernel’s in SVN:
https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freeghost/code/trunk/packages/web/service/ipxe/

Specifically bzImage32 as you’re running 0.32:
sudo mv /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage_backup
sudo wget -O /tftpboot/fog/kernel/bzImage https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freeghost/code/trunk/packages/web/service/ipxe/bzImage32
Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG! Get in contact with me (chat bubble in the top right corner) if you want to join in.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Success
I first tried bzImage32 network boot ok “client system info” returned
invalid or corrupt kernel image.
boot:
next I tried bzImage
network book ok client info passed
Ready to image the T440s Monday morning should be fine Ill report back to let you all know.
Thanks for the roadmap much appreciated
