Hey there, I’m setting up a test environment here at my job to test out FOG before I pitch it to management, and i’m having some issues with PXE booting.

I have installed FOG 1.2.0 over Ubuntu 13.10.
I am on an isolated network that I set up between 3 Dell Optiplex 960’s and a Netgear ProSafe 16 port switch.
The install went great, I have the FOG server running with no issues. I set up the DHCP on the FOG server, which has a static IP of 192.168.1.1.
Now then, my workstation I’m trying to PXE boot has an IP of 192.168.1.2, and the FOG server and the workstation can both ping each other. (I’ve disabled firewalls on both)
But when I try to PXE boot, it hangs at the DHCP step, then kicks me back out.
I’ve tried restarting the TFTP service.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks -Chris

    FOG 1.3.0 RC37 on CentOS 7.
    Over 500 end units.
Only one of me, plus a recently hired assistant.
FOG is a lifesaver on time and inventory headache.

As you’re between separate switches, do you have anything that’s “helping” direct the dhcp back to the FOG Server?

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

I don’t think so. Let me clarify a bit. I have 3 workstations hooked to 1 switch.
I think I may just be missing something simple here.

And this problem is only affecting me in the isolated setting. If I was installing FOG on our real network, I could edit all the DHCP settings I need to in our DHCP server. I just need it to work in my isolated test environment first lol

Alright, so how does anything know where to get their IP address?

I’ve set them to static on both. If that is causing the issue, I can try to find a router around here somewhere.

Update, I had a student helping me set up this test network, and it looks like he put the wrong subnet mask into these settings. He put 255.255.0.0 in while the DHCP server on FOG is 255.255.255.0. I’ll try that.

Further update, that solved my problem and PXE booting worked just fine.
I must say that you guys have done an excellent job with FOG.
                  Keep up the good work!!!
