      Hi Guys,

Not sure if this has been brought up before. I couldn’t find anything when I did a search.

My request is with the Capone Plugin to enable a kernel field
I know some PCs/Laptops have trouble on the default kernel or the likes.
It would be handy to enable a particular kernel based on the DMI field.

That way you have the option to select image & Kernel based on the DMI field not just the image.

      Thanks again 🙂

      Cheers,

I like the idea of this, but perhaps I just make it it’s own separate thing?

This “kernel” based method wouldn’t be able to work the same as the DMI->Image association. Right now, you can assign multiple images to the same DMI fields. Capone will ask you which image you want to use, unfortunately we don’t have the same level of functionality for kernels, so it would make sense to use a separate field that only allows you to use one DMI association to Kernel pointer. I’ll take a look into this a little this weekend and see if I can get prototype out the door.

Ahh, I’ve never actually tried assigning multiple images to the same field. I always incorrectly assumed it was a one image per DMI.
I guess as we have mainly used it for re-imaging bulk laptops that all have the same image.

          I wasn’t expecting this quick response 🙂

          Thanks again.

I was thinking about this the other day,
Would this be something that could be done with PHP and iPXE using the ${product} field from iPXE?

            e.g.

            if the ${product} = OptiPlex 755
That way if we have problem PC’s that have a known product ID we can manually issue them a kernel over the default one.

            Cheers,
