Hi,

ich created a translation some time ago for 0.32 in german:
http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/german-translation-for-fog-started-help-needed.4281/#post-12204

I actually try to use it with 1.1.2, i placed the de_DE.UTF-8 dir into /var/www/fog/management/languages but nothing happens into the dropdown menu for the language.

Is there something additional i need to change so it realizes german is there?

edit:

I’ve opened my old 0.32 translation with po-edit and imported additional string from messages.pot and saved it again. Then i placed the new messages.po and .mo files in my de_DE.UTF-8 dir but german does not appear in language dropdown.

What is wrong?

Regards
X23

Bad translation from Google Voice to text feature. I was driving in to work and answering from my cell phone.

I was referring to the “translation” files themselves yes.

Hi,

sorry but there are no translation files.
I load messages.pot into po-edit (under Windows) then it generates all the strings to translate,
i did that then you can save to a messages.po and it also generates a messages.mo and thats all i got.

Regards X23

That’s what I needed, and I found it.

I’ve included it and will be pushing it to SVN shortly. Though, not all elements will “translate” properly due to the many changes even in text.

Hi,

ok but what is the secret about integrating the language files between 0.32 and 1.1.2 in 0.32 i could just place them and they was used but today something is different. Also the files you found are from 0.32 there are around 250 translation missing today, i will translate them after i saw a working german translation with the stand from the 0.32 files.

So gimme a little motivation 😉

Regards X23

I’m going to push this with the de_DE.UTF-8

There is a slight difference in that I’m still working to create a singular “translation” php file where all the common translation needed texts will sit, similar to the .pot file.

This file is in: /var/www/{fogwebdir}/commons/text.php

At the bottom of this file you’ll see the “language” translation text. Then in ProcessLogin.class.php I’m using “interpreters” to translate the de_DE.UTF-8 to an actual corresponding word rather than it just displaying the folder name.

Hi,

that explains why the website is broken if i just place the german messages.po and .mo files in the EN language directory 😉
Was a stupid try to find out what happens when doing it 😄

SVN 2040 should have de_DE.UTF-8 now.

Hi Tom,

i have added german to the text.php bottom line and i see german now, but even if i choose german not a single translation is working.
Is there something else to address?

How can i download the latest svn version? Something special to update or just rerunning the installsh?

Regards X23

When i wnat to update from svn master.zip can i just copy the folder over the existing or what is the recommended update procedure? rerun of installfog.sh?

Should be exactly the same as you would normally only you’re not having to untar the file.

i have never updated fog before, i know that it mentions that there is a .fogsettings file and will use it to resetup fog but is the normal way for an update to overwrite existing files or let the .installfog.sh do the job again?

Hi Tom,

something else… like mentioned in my old thread some parts of the fog webif are not translated even if the message.po was completely translated: http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/german-translation-for-fog-started-help-needed.4281/#post-12009

Are we today in the same situation or are all strings now in the messages.po?
If not what files need also be translated?

Regards X23

the db schema updater page is just empty
http://fogip/fog/management always redirects to aboves empty page.

EDIT:

Same issue after db drop an reinstall, hmm.
