Hello,
I’m trying to image a Dell XPS 13 (Bios A08) using a Startech USB>Ethernet (USB21000s2)
I can PXE boot and get all the way FOG options screen, but if I choose Client System Information and check IP Information - I only show my loopback address.
I can image all other machines just fine, but whenever I try to use the USB adapter it seems that my FOG Server doesn’t recognize it properly and will not assign DHCP.
I’m using the latest Kernel for FOG and the most updated BIOS from DELL, but not having any luck.

We’re running into the same issue with our Dell XPS 13 with the USB-Ethernet adapter.
We just use Acronis+PXE.- Boot.
- Press 12.
- Boot to network.
- Connects to the network. (I can see the adapter get a DHCP IP address from the DHCP server)
- Gets PXE image - Acronis Snap Deploy 4 Agent.
- Boots into Acronis environment.
- I choose Acronis Snap Deploy 4 Master Image Creator.
- Fails to carry over the assigned DHCP IP address that was assigned in Step 4. It just has the loopback address.
As an alternative, Acronis Deploy 4 Master Image Creator allows me to overwrite the loopback address.
So I enter an IP, SN, DNS, GW. Unfortunately, it doesn’t allow me to path out.
I’m not sure what the issue is. The XPS 13 + USB-Ethernet adapter is able to get an IP address during the boot process. Successfully loads the PXE environment, but fails to relay the IP.

This seems to be problematic.
I have had the same issues with Acronis and turned to Fog for a solution.
The trouble is that I can’t get Fog to image these machines either.
See attached.
Basically it fails as FOG fails to recognise the BIOS etc.
Is there a work around in Fog?
