Anyone with a working imgargs for PXE installing Ubuntu 24.04?
-
I am looking to install the latest Ubuntu Server via PXE and could use some help. I am using the vmlinuz and initrd from the 24.04.04 iso image, but unable to construct a working imgargs statement (and I have tried hundreds of iterations). Wondering if anyone has gotten this to work.
.ISO is ubuntu-24.04.4-live-server-amd64.iso
In my FOG PXE menu I have added
kernel tftp://${fog-ip}/os/ubuntu/24.04/vmlinuz
initrd tftp://${fog-ip}/os/ubuntu/24.04/initrd
imgargs “look below”
boot || goto MENUKernel and initrd seem to load fine.
When I use
imgargs vmlinuz initrd=initrd boot=casper root=live:nfs://${fog-ip}:/images/UBUNTU24.04.04/ubuntu-24.04.4-live-server-amd64.iso ip=dhcp inst.repo=nfs:${fog-ip}:/images/UBUNTU24.04.04 splash quiet
I get an “/init: line 38: can’t open /dev/sr0: No medium found” errorWhen I use
imgargs vmlinuz initrd=initrd root=/dev/ram0 ramdisk_size=1500000 boot=casper ip=dhcp url=http://${fog-ip}/fog/os/ubuntu-24.04.4-live-server-amd64.iso
It seems to start the installation process, but hangs at “[ok] Finished systemd-update-done.service - Update is Completed”I’m stuck here, and have been anging my head on this for hours, lol. Has anyone gotten this to work? Thank you!!
