Bandwidth Issues

Not sure what I should be seeing but I think it should be higher. I am testing with a single desktop. Server is 4Gb Ram, dual core dell server. I am unable to get better than 12 MiB per upload according to my dashboard and the nic on the server. The server nic and port are gigabit. The desktop is 10/100. I get a peculiar pattern on my dashboard graph. Can anyone tell me what could be happening and how I can troubleshoot this.

100 Mbps(Megabits per second) is about 12.5 MBps(Megabytes per second), you are limited by the desktop computer.
