Create New Printer Error
-
We have installed FOG 1.3.0 RC5 SVN 5943. There appears to be an error when we create a new Network Printer.
After clicking ‘Add Printer’ the following message appears.
list item{“error”:“All printer definitions must have an alias/name associated with it. Unable to create!”}We have found that we can get around this by clicking the back once the error appears and then immediately clicking the “Add Printer” button again.

Found the issue and was able to fix. Fix will be available for RC-6.
Thank you for reporting.

The alias is just a simple name, remove the backslashes. -
@Wayne-Workman For network printers the backslashes are necessary.
-
also - check out the printer manager helper, it’s here, grab the latest version.
https://github.com/FOGProject/fog-client/releasesManually install the network printer, then run the helper. It gives you all the fields.

Correction - TCP/IP printers don’t have slashes in their alias. Network printers do. Apologies.
-
@Wayne-Workman printer manager helper only shows TCP/IP printers. Not network printers.
