@arainero Why did you have to remove --ttl
and --portbase
?? I still think something is wrong with the network setup. From the udp-cast man page I get that it would default to use 232.168.1.x (where x would be the last byte of the server IP address). Possibly your switch is layer 3 switch and does not allow those “out of range” IPs?

RE: ProxyDHCP help
@kurtblah Yeah, you are actually the first person I know who looked into using my node-dhcproxy. It’s been more like a proof of concept as not very many people use proxy DHCP and most of them are happy with dnsmasq.
Would be still interesting to get this sorted for the future. Does it error out with the exact same stack trace on every received DHCP message?

RE: ProxyDHCP help
@kurtblah Would you be able to capture those dhcp packets using wireshark/tcpdump? Would be of great help to fix the node-dhcproxy code. Let me know if you need help with those tools. Display filter
bootp
with wireshark is very helpful. Options for tcpdump would be-i eth0 -o outfile.pcap udp
, then open the pcap file in wireshark, display filterbootp
and export that to a new pcap file. Please upload the PCAP file here. -
RE: Mounting File System Failed
@phil_pancrazio Have you tried restarting the NFS stuff on your FOG server?
service nfs-kernerl-server restart

RE: Stuck at bg.png / Issues with Lenovo X1 Carbon (6th gen) & Lenovo Onelink+ dock (RTL8135 USB)
@Shadow00Caster Sorry to say this but I think those USB NIC adapters (not just the Realtek RTL8135) are mostly all a nightmare! The iPXE project is doing an awesome job trying to add drivers for those USB NICs but it’s just hell.
In this case we can just try to navigate around this I am afraid. As Wayne said try blanking out the background file setting. I am not exactly sure how this behaves in RC5 version but give it a go!

RE: Configuring UDPCast Failed on all 13 Nodes with RC6
@Stilty Please check the log file again and post the last 10-20 lines…
Possibly you just don’t have enough free space on your disk??? Run
df -h

RE: Stuck at bg.png / Issues with Lenovo X1 Carbon (6th gen) & Lenovo Onelink+ dock (RTL8135 USB)
@Shadow00Caster You might want to try changing the device to UEFI and see if ipxe.efi works for you? But possibly it does not even netboot in UEFI mode?!?!

RE: Installing package: vsftpd failed
@TThax Maybe try:
sudo -i rm /etc/rc2.d/S20vsftpd apt-get -f install

RE: Surface Pro 4 PXE image through FOG
@ecicerkofski and @jhuesser As well please use the forum search. We have been through many Surface devices in the past.

RE: Optiplex 7440 AIO - Cannot find disk on system
@pxslip said in Optiplex 7440 AIO - Cannot find disk on system:
I also ran
lsblk -pno KNAME,MAJ:MIN -x KNAME
and got no outputSounds like linux does not see your PCIe SSD. I guess this means you are running an older kernel. As George already said, we need to know your FOG version. I guess you should at least see the disk using
lsblk
if you are running FOG trunk! See here for information on how to get FOG trunk: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrade_to_trunk -
RE: Problem updating fog: Backing up Database ... failed
@K-Hays What do you see in the last 20 lines of the install logs (/path/to/checked/out/fogproject/bin/error_log/…)??

RE: Image uploading fails after upgrading Ubuntu to 16.04 and fog to latest version.
@alismayilov As Wayne already said you should read this wiki artice on how to fix the “update database” issue. The other messages are not related I am pretty sure.

RE: Image uploading fails after upgrading Ubuntu to 16.04 and fog to latest version.
@alismayilov Please read through this: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=45792.0
Possibly the PCs you have are just not assembled properly?! Check the (S)ATA cables and try different ones to see if it makes a difference.
Or is it a mSATA disk? Then read this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=195875

RE: FOG menu not showing up on some machines after DHCP server rebuild
@Jay-Bosworth said:
Could not start download: operation not supported
This is one of the most errors you can find being asked about in the forums. Have you read through a couple of those? Mostly it seams to be a messed up DHCP setup - failover or something. Please make absolutely sure your DHCP server is configured correctly and best if you can use wireshark to confirm it is sending out the right information. Feel free to upload a packet dump captured with wireshark on your DHCP server (display filter
bootp || tftp
) and we’ll have a look too. -
RE: Problem updating fog: Backing up Database ... failed
@K-Hays Sorry for the delay. I am preparing to move house these days and don’t get much time for FOG stuff…
Sorry didn’t see that you already posted this:
ln: failed to create symbolic link ‘/var/www/fog/fog’: File exists ... --2016-08-12 14:22:17-- http://10.40.0.7//fog//maintenance/backup_db.php Connecting to 10.40.0.7:80... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 500 Internal Server Error 2016-08-12 14:22:17 ERROR 500: Internal Server Error.
Maybe something went wrong with those links. If you don’t have any modifications (kernels, initrds or whatever) within
/var/www/
then I’d ask you to completely delete those and re-run the installer. See what you have in that directory, possibly there is/var/www/html/fog
and/var/www/fog

RE: TFTP Server Prompt - PXE Boot
@Motech09 Please tell us more about your setup. Who is serving DHCP? ISC-DHCP (FOG default), dnsmasq, windows DHCP, other? Wouldn’t hurt if you post your configuration here as well.

RE: FOG will not boot - "Failed to get an IP via DHCP! Tried on interface(s):"
@lukebarone Could you please boot up a live linux CD/DVD and run the following commands to get the exact model of your ethernet chip:
lspci -nn | grep Ethernet
Or boot windows, go to driver manager and find out the PCI IDs there. Otherwise it’s just a lot of useless research and guesswork to find out what NIC is build into your devices.

RE: USB NIC PXE Boot?
@yochaigal We have confirmation on working StarTech USB21000S2 in the wiki as well. But USB NICs are a bit special as they don’t work for every device. The PC/notebook/tablet/whatever device you are trying to PXE boot with this USB NIC needs to have specific drivers for this USB NIC chip in the BIOS!!
As far as I can see you haven’t told us where things go wrong yet. “Does not work” is not very helpful. Please post a picture of an error or a hang you see. If you don’t run into such a situation but simply see windows booting up I think it’s that USB NIC not being recognized by your device’s BIOS. Try all your Dells, HPs and Lenovos and see which ones are working with the StarTech USB21000S2 and which ones don’t.
By the way, John Willis (this one and his other articles) is a must read if you are trying to get USB NIC PXE booting to work…

RE: Schema update issues RC-9
@kpeterson As you can see in the code two lines before
insertId
is called it saysself::$DB->query
. This is not failing, so why shouldself::$DB->insertId
fail?My guess is something is wrong with the repo checkout. Please check your /var/www/html/fog/lib/db/pdodb.class.php (around line 400). Do you see the function definition??
