Hi everyone

I’m trying to make computers join to an AD and I find and issue. It’s not a big problem (for my needs) but would be nice if I find a solution.

This is the process of the issue:

1- I download an Image to a computer
2- It changes perfectly the hostname and reboot
3- After changing name here come the issue: I got this error on FOG Client log
FOG::HostnameChanger (‘Unknown error’ Code 2699)
4- After another manual restart the computuer JOINS the AD with no problem and restarts so I understand is not a problem of the AD configuration in FOG

I can’t find why it doesn’t do it after the restart to change the name

Sounds like your image may have some misconfiguration? Did you install FOG Client with “everyone” or “just me”? Did you install as administrator (i.e. Right Click->Run As administrator)?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

FYI the Error codes that are returned by the HostnameChanger are the same for Windows. I hope these can help you.
If you are getting Windows error code 2699 it means your system is affected by virus or registry corruption.
Try opening and runing an administrator cmd with these lines
>chkdsk /f
(on question to run at next reboot hit Y)

sfc /scannow
Also you could try binding your DHCP which is usually unneeded but a possible solution for this error.

Hello again

I just write here because I found another problem that didn’t allowed me to join computers to the Domain just in case anyone needs it.

In our University all the computers are on the same VLAN with many DHCP Servers and that made that sometimes, not always, the DHCP Client didn’t assign us the correct DNS to be able to join computers to our domain. Finally we decidided to filter via firewall that our clients only can get IP from our DHCP Server.

Thanks for giving me some light to solve our problem and for this nice product.

See you soon
